An essential bucket working component – a durable aftermarket tooth for the popular CATERPILLAR J250 system. This is a standard dirt tooth profile, designed for general earthmoving in backhoes and mini excavators. The tooth is mounted on a weld-on adapter (e.g., 6Y3254) using a side pin and retainer. High-grade cast steel ensures high resistance to abrasion. It is widely used on machines from various manufacturers (CAT, JCB, Komatsu, Case, etc.) that utilize the J250 system.
GX-AFTER is the smart choice for your machine. We provide high-class replacement parts that combine excellent quality with an attractive price. Each part is carefully verified to ensure full compatibility and reliability you can depend on.
| Brand | Type / Series / Model |
|---|---|
| Universal | Any machine (Caterpillar, JCB, Bobcat, Takeuchi, John Deere, Case, Komatsu, Kubota, ESCO, Hensley, H&L) equipped with a J250 adapter system. |
The list above is for reference. It is crucial to verify the tooth system (J250) on your bucket's adapter.
When installing or removing teeth (knocking out pins), always wear safety glasses and use a proper hammer and punch. Metal fragments or retainers can fly off and cause serious eye injury.
The tooth is the main working part of the bucket that comes into direct contact with the ground. A worn tooth leads to decreased digging performance, increased resistance, and higher fuel consumption. A worn tooth also puts extra stress on the adapter, leading to its failure.

J250 is the size designation for a popular CATERPILLAR tooth system. It is one of the smaller sizes, commonly used on backhoe loaders, mini excavators, and small loaders (approx. 7-15 ton class).
2. Will this tooth fit a J300 adapter? No. The CAT J-Series tooth systems are not interchangeable between sizes. A J250 tooth will only fit a J250 adapter and requires J250 hardware (9J2258/8E6259).
3. Why is it important to replace worn teeth?Working with worn, "rounded" teeth drastically increases digging resistance. This leads to higher fuel consumption, slower work, and places enormous stress on the adapters, cutting edge, and the arm's pins and bushings, accelerating their wear.
