An essential transmission component, the 445/03205 friction disc by FEROSTEM. This is a high-performance friction component designed for wet clutch operation in transmissions and reversers across a wide range of JCB machines – from 3CX/4CX backhoes to telehandlers and Fastrac tractors. Precise dimensions (133.1 mm outer diameter, 45 teeth) and special "2 PASS" grooving ensure a perfect fit, effective oil cooling, and efficient torque transfer.
FEROSTEM specializes in the production of high-quality, wear-resistant steel castings, such as teeth, cutting edges, and track systems. Our products are designed for maximum resistance to impact and abrasion, ensuring long life even in the toughest quarrying and demolition conditions.

When replacing friction discs, it is absolutely essential to also replace the steel separator plates that work with them in the clutch pack. Installing new discs on old, overheated steel plates will lead to immediate failure.
Operating with worn friction discs leads to clutch slippage. This causes a rapid increase in oil temperature, which can burn the oil, damage the clutch piston seals, and lead to a permanent, very costly failure of the entire transmission or reverser.
The 445/03205 friction disc is a key part of the clutch pack in the transmission (e.g., for forward/reverse or gears 1, 2, 3, 4). It operates submerged in oil. When hydraulic pressure is applied, a piston compresses the pack of friction discs and steel plates, locking the clutch drum and transferring drive to the selected gear. The "2 PASS" grooves ensure constant oil flow for cooling.

This means the disc has teeth on its inner diameter (92.7 mm), which engage with a shaft or hub inside the clutch drum.
This is the pattern of grooves on the friction material. These grooves (in this case, "2 PASS") are crucial for channeling oil away from the discs as they are compressed. This ensures smooth clutch engagement and effective cooling, preventing burn-up.
Absolutely not. Discs and plates wear together as a set. Replacing only one, even if it's the only one visibly damaged, will cause uneven force distribution and lead to a very rapid failure of the new pack.
