A high-quality clutch pressure/locating plate 331/31561 by FEROSTEM. This is a key, thick (6 mm) component of the clutch pack, used in the transmissions of JCB machines (3CX, 4CX, Loaders). Its job is to transfer clamping force and provide a solid reaction surface for the disc pack.
FEROSTEM specializes in the production of high-quality, wear-resistant steel castings, such as teeth, cutting edges, and track systems. Our products are designed for maximum resistance to impact and abrasion, ensuring long life even in the toughest quarrying and demolition conditions.

The list above is for reference. It is crucial to verify the part number 331/31561 in your machine's transmission parts diagram.
The 331/31561 pressure plate is part of a clutch pack. When replacing it, it is essential to also replace the friction discs, other steel plates, and the diaphragm spring (e.g., 445/05110). Piston seals should also be inspected.
A cracked or warped (overheated) pressure plate leads to uneven or insufficient clamping of the clutch pack. This results in clutch slippage, loss of drive, or failure to change direction. This can be extremely dangerous, e.g., when operating on a slope. An overheating clutch will burn the oil and destroy the entire transmission.
The 331/31561 plate is a thick (6 mm) steel plate with 54 internal teeth. In a transmission clutch pack, it serves as a locating or pressure plate. It is typically the first or last element in the stack, providing a solid surface for the hydraulic piston or diaphragm spring (e.g., 445/05110) to press against. It must withstand immense clamping forces and heat while evenly transferring pressure to the friction discs.

Mainly thickness and function. Standard steel plates are thinner and alternate with friction discs. This plate (331/31561) is 6 mm thick and serves as a pressure plate or locating end plate for the entire pack or the diaphragm spring.
When a clutch slips, it generates extreme heat. This heat causes the plate to "warp" (deform) and lose its flatness. Installing new friction discs against an old, warped pressure plate will cause uneven clamping and burn up the new discs very quickly.
These are interchangeable (alternative) numbers for the same part. 445/12301, 449/10602, and 445/12315 are older part numbers that have been superseded by 331/31561.
