A high-quality bi-metal slide bush. It is a key component of the joints in the kingpost, mounted in the sideshift carriage bore (both upper and lower). Its unique construction, consisting of a steel outer shell and a bronze inner sliding layer, provides maximum resistance to shock loads and excellent anti-friction properties. It is essential for transferring enormous forces and ensuring the smooth slew of the backhoe arm.
A NEXGEN brand product – a high-quality replacement that meets the highest standards of durability and performance.
| Brand (Machine Type) | Model |
|---|---|
| JCB (Backhoe Loaders) | 3CX, 4CX (models manufactured after approx. 1998) |
| JCB (Articulated Wheel Loaders) | TM180, TM220 |
| JCB (Wheel Loaders) | 406, 407, 409 |
The list above is for reference. We recommend verifying the dimensions on your machine before purchasing.
Replacing kingpost bushings requires dismantling heavy backhoe arm components. Always secure the arm from falling using the service lock and certified axle stands. Never rely solely on the machine's hydraulics. Use safety glasses and gloves.
For a comprehensive and durable repair, always replace bushings in a set with new pins and seals. Regular greasing of the joints with high-quality HYPTRON grease containing molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) drastically extends the life of the bushings.
Bushings are sacrificial components designed to wear out to protect much more expensive parts like the kingpost or the backhoe boom. Ignoring worn bushings leads to play, which in turn damages the pin bores (causing them to become oval), ultimately requiring a very expensive re-boring repair.
Replace the bushings if you notice:
Ignoring play on the pins leads to irreversible damage to the bores in the carriage and kingpost, forcing costly re-boring repairs.
A repair performed using a complete set of NEXGEN pins and bushings is the cheapest way to avoid these problems. Secure your machine and restore its factory precision – order a complete set today.
A bi-metal bush combines the advantages of both materials. The outer steel shell provides immense strength and resistance to deformation during pressing, while the inner bronze layer guarantees excellent sliding properties and resistance to seizure.
2. I have play on the backhoe arm. Will replacing this bush be enough?Play in the backhoe can come from many places. This bush eliminates play at the kingpost mounting to the sideshift carriage. You should also check the slew ram pins and the pin connecting the boom to the kingpost. A comprehensive repair requires replacing all worn bushings and pins.
3. Does this bush fit older machines with a rack and pinion slew? No. This model is for the newer kingpost type, used in machines after approx. 1998, where the slew is achieved with a slew ring. Older machines have a different design and require different bushings.
