The lower slew pin is the foundation of the entire backhoe kingpost. It transfers enormous forces and loads generated during digging and slewing. If your machine has noticeable play in the kingpost, you hear loud knocking during slewing, and digging is imprecise, these are classic symptoms of a worn pin. Ignoring the problem leads to wear in the frame and kingpost bores, which is one of the most expensive repairs on a backhoe loader.

The accuracy and quality of materials guarantee long and trouble-free use without the need for frequent replacement.
The pin is fully adapted to work with original bushings and retainers, ensuring a consistent repair.
The NEXGEN brand is a proven and safe alternative that offers quality comparable to original parts at a much better price.
Kingpost slew pins should always be replaced as a complete set (upper and lower). Replacing only one will cause uneven loading and rapid destruction of the new pin and old bushings.
Installing a new pin into old, worn-out bushes is pointless – the play will return immediately. Always replace pins together with a new set of bushes.
Before installing new bushes, ensure that the bores in the frame and kingpost are not oval. If necessary, they must be repaired (line-bored).
After installation, generously grease the joint. Use high-quality grease, such as HYPTRON, and replenish it regularly according to the service intervals.
Answer: The most common symptoms are noticeable sideways play in the entire backhoe arm, loud knocking during slewing, and a lack of precision when operating the bucket.
Question: Can I replace just the lower pin without the upper one?Answer: This is highly not recommended. These pins work as a pair and wear out at a similar rate. Replacing only one will cause the old, worn pin to take more load, leading to rapid failure.
Question: What happens if I operate with a loose pin?Answer: Operating with a loose pin causes the bores in the kingpost and frame to become oval. Repairing these elements is one of the most expensive repairs on a backhoe loader, many times exceeding the cost of replacing pins and bushes in time.
