A seal kit is the heart of a hydraulic cylinder. It is responsible for maintaining oil pressure and ensuring smooth, controlled movement. If you notice oil leaks on the rod or from the gland, the cylinder is "drifting" (not holding position), operates jerkily, or lacks full power, these are classic symptoms of worn seals. Ignoring the problem leads to oil contamination, hydraulic pump damage, and creates a serious safety hazard on the job site.

Before installing new seals, carefully inspect the surface of the rod and cylinder for scratches, pitting, and damage. Installing new seals on a scratched rod will lead to their immediate destruction.
The hydraulic system is extremely sensitive to contaminants. Before installation, thoroughly clean all cylinder components. Work in a clean environment.
Do not use sharp tools, such as screwdrivers, to install seals. This can cause damage and leaks. Use specialized seal installation tools or rounded, smooth plastic tools.
Before installation, lubricate all seals with clean hydraulic oil, such as HYPTRON. This will facilitate installation and prevent damage.
Answer: In 99% of cases, yes. A leak is the main symptom of worn seals. However, if the rod or cylinder is scratched, replacing the seals alone will not solve the problem long-term.
Question: Can I replace just one broken seal from the kit?Answer: This is highly not recommended. The seals in a cylinder wear out at a similar rate. Replacing only one component is uneconomical, as another will soon fail, and the cost of disassembling the cylinder again is high.
Question: Why did my new seals wear out quickly?Answer: The most common reasons are installation on a scratched or rusted rod, contaminated hydraulic oil (old hydraulic filter), or using improper tools that damaged the seal during installation.
