A Stabilus gas spring (strut), designed to support the door or bonnet in JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders with the P21 cabin (produced 2001-2012). This is a key component ensuring operator comfort and safety, eliminating the risk of heavy elements slamming shut. It guarantees perfect lifting force and durability, even with frequent use.
Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers, supplying components for original equipment (OEM) to the most reputable brands, including JCB. By choosing a Stabilus product, you receive a guarantee of the highest quality, perfect lifting force, and durability identical to the original.
| Brand | Type / Series / Model |

The list above is for reference. It is crucial to match the length (390 mm) and cabin type (P21).
The gas spring is under high pressure. Do not cut, puncture, or heat. A sudden loss of pressure can cause components to eject, causing serious injury. When replacing, always prop up the door or bonnet to prevent it from falling suddenly.
A gas spring is a component that supports and assists in opening doors, windows, or bonnets. Over time, due to seal wear, it loses gas pressure and fails to perform its function.

This is a classic sign of wear. The gas (nitrogen) inside the spring contracts in low temperatures, causing a drop in pressure. In a new spring, the pressure is high enough to compensate for this. In a worn spring, the gas pressure is already so low that, when cooled, it becomes insufficient to support the weight.
2. Why should I replace gas springs in pairs? If you replace only one spring, the new one (with full force) will do most of the work, while the old, weaker one will not provide adequate support. This causes an uneven load and stress on the new spring and the door hinges, leading to very rapid wear of the new part.
3. Can I "re-gas" my old spring? No. Gas springs are sealed, disposable items. The failure is not just gas loss, but primarily the wear and tear of the internal piston rod seal. "Re-gassing" will not fix the leak, and the gas will escape again in a short time.
