A high-quality starter solenoid, designed for JCB machines with Perkins engines (fitted before approx. 2005). It performs two key functions: when the key is turned, it moves the starter pinion (bendix) to engage the flywheel ring gear, and then acts as a high-current relay, closing the main starter motor circuit. The robust construction and copper contacts ensure reliable starting and a long service life.
GX-AFTER is the smart choice for your machine. We provide high-class replacement parts that combine excellent quality with an attractive price. Each part is carefully verified to ensure full compatibility and reliability you can depend on.
| Brand (Machine Type) | Model |
|---|---|
| JCB (Backhoe Loaders) | 3CX, 4CX (with Perkins engine) |
| JCB (Telehandlers) | Loadall (with Perkins engine) |
| JCB (Wheel Loaders) | Various models with Perkins engine |
| JCB (Tractors) | FASTRAC (older models with Perkins engine) |
| JCB (Forklifts) | RTFL (Rough Terrain with Perkins engine) |
The list above is for reference. Before purchasing, we recommend a visual comparison with your old part.
Before replacing any starter components, you must disconnect the negative (-) terminal from the battery. Shorting the main power lead of the starter to ground can cause a fire and serious injury.
The starter solenoid is the actuator of the starting system. Its failure makes it impossible to start the engine, leading to machine downtime.
A faulty solenoid means an immobilized machine.
Replacing just the solenoid is much cheaper than replacing the entire starter motor. Don't wait for a tow – order a new, reliable GX-AFTER solenoid and restore a sure start to your machine.

If you hear a loud, single "click" when you turn the key, it means the solenoid is trying to work but cannot close the main contacts. If you hear nothing, the problem could be a burnt-out coil or no signal from the ignition switch. If the starter turns but slowly, the problem is more likely the battery, connections, or the starter motor itself.
2. Is it difficult to replace just the solenoid?Replacing the solenoid is much simpler and cheaper than replacing the entire starter motor. In most cases, it can be done without removing the starter from the engine. It requires removing a few screws and wires, and then carefully taking the solenoid off the fork mechanism.
3. What is a "bendix" and what role does the solenoid play with it?"Bendix" is the common name for the starter pinion gear. The solenoid, acting as an electromagnet, uses a fork to push the bendix forward to engage its teeth with the teeth on the engine's flywheel ring gear. Only in the second phase does the solenoid switch on the power to the starter motor to turn the flywheel.
