The U-joint strap is a key safety component that secures the U-joint bearing cap into the flange (yoke) of the axle or transmission. If you hear metallic knocking, "clanking" or feel strong vibrations from the drivetrain, especially when engaging drive or changing direction, these are classic symptoms of a broken or loose strap. Continuing to operate with such a fault will lead to the U-joint cap falling out, resulting in its destruction and severe propshaft vibration. In an extreme case, the propshaft can detach, which can damage the gearbox and poses a serious safety risk.

The strap is fully adapted to work with original flanges and U-joints, ensuring a consistent and safe repair.
The GX-AFTER brand is a proven and safe alternative that offers quality comparable to original parts at a much better price.
U-joint straps on a single U-joint should always be replaced in pairs (both on the same flange) to ensure even clamping force.
The mounting bolts are single-use items. Reusing them risks breakage or loosening of the clamp.
Tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's recommended torque. Insufficient torque risks loosening, while excessive torque can damage the thread or the bolt.
Before mounting the new strap, carefully clean the mating surface on the flange of rust and dirt to ensure proper seating of the U-joint cap.
Answer: Yes, it is very likely. A cracked or loose strap causes the U-joint to become off-center, which generates huge vibrations. You should stop work immediately.
Question: Can I replace just one strap on the U-joint?Answer: It is highly not recommended. These components are subjected to the same loads and wear at a similar rate. Replacing only one side risks uneven clamping and rapid failure.
Question: What happens if I drive with a damaged strap?Answer: It risks the U-joint bearing cap falling out, which in a short time leads to the destruction of the U-joint itself, and then the propshaft yokes and the flange. In an extreme case, the shaft can break off.
