The flame glow plug is a key component of the cold start system in Perkins engines. Its function is to heat the air in the intake manifold by creating a small flame, which facilitates engine start-up in low temperatures. If your machine is very hard to start in winter, cranks for a long time, and emits white smoke for a while after starting, these are classic symptoms of a faulty plug. A malfunctioning pre-heating system leads to excessive wear on the battery and starter motor, and prevents operation on frosty days.

A new plug eliminates problems with starting in low temperatures, ensuring your machine is ready for work every day.
An easier start means less strain on the starter motor and battery, significantly extending their service life.
Using OEM quality parts is the best way to avoid unforeseen breakdowns and costly downtime.
Before starting any work on the electrical system, always disconnect the negative (-) terminal from the battery for your own safety.
Before replacing the plug, check the fuse, relay, and the wiring and connector. Sometimes the cause of the failure lies in the electrics, not the plug itself.
Make sure the fuel line to the plug is clear and undamaged. Clean fuel is crucial for its operation - replace REDX filters regularly.
Use a torque wrench to tighten the plug to the manufacturer's recommended specification. Overtightening can damage the thread in the intake manifold.
Answer: The easiest way is to check its resistance with a multimeter. A burnt-out plug will show an open circuit. You can also check if voltage is present on the power lead when the ignition is turned on.
Question: What's the difference between a flame plug and a regular glow plug?Answer: A flame plug is screwed into the intake manifold and heats all the air entering the cylinders by creating a small flame. Regular glow plugs are mounted directly in the cylinder head and heat the combustion chamber of each cylinder individually.
Question: My machine still starts hard after replacing the plug. What could be the cause?Answer: Ensure the relay is working correctly and supplying voltage. Also, check that fuel is reaching the plug. Other causes of starting problems include low engine compression, a weak battery, or a faulty starter motor.
