A ball joint is a key component of control linkages that transfers movement from a lever in the cab (e.g., hand throttle, gear shift, hydraulic controls) to the actuating mechanism. If you feel excessive play in the lever, the control is imprecise, gears engage poorly, or you hear rattling and clunking from the linkage area, these are classic symptoms of a worn-out ball joint. A damaged rubber boot leads to rapid joint destruction from dirt and water.

Eliminates play in the levers, allowing for precise and smooth control over the machine's functions.
Eliminates annoying rattles and clunks from the linkage area, improving comfort in the cab.
Replacing just the ball joint is an inexpensive repair that restores the full functionality of the entire control linkage.
Before unscrewing the old joint, carefully measure the length of the entire linkage. Screw the new joint in to maintain the original dimension, which will ensure proper adjustment.
After setting the correct length, always tighten the lock nut securely to prevent the joint from rotating and losing its adjustment.
Answer: This is a standard ball joint with a right-hand thread (RH).
Question: My lever has a lot of play. Is replacing one joint enough?Answer: A control linkage usually has two ball joints (at both ends). For a complete elimination of play, it is recommended to replace both joints at the same time.
