A key element for an engine overhaul – a complete piston ring set from GX-AFTER. Designed for one piston with a nominal cylinder bore (STD) of 100.00 mm. This set is primarily dedicated to naturally aspirated Perkins AA (1004-4) engines, but also fits many other models from the Perkins 1004 and 1006 families and their equivalents in Caterpillar, Manitou, and Massey Ferguson machines. These rings are responsible for hermetically sealing the combustion chamber, transferring heat from the piston to the cylinder, and controlling the oil film on the cylinder wall.
GX-AFTER is the smart choice for your machine. We provide high-class replacement parts that combine excellent quality with an attractive price. Each part is carefully verified to ensure full compatibility and reliability you can depend on.

The list above is extensive. The key is to verify the engine type (e.g., Perkins AA) and the nominal cylinder bore (100.00 mm).
An engine overhaul requires absolute cleanliness. Installing rings must be done in sterile conditions. Any contamination (dirt, debris) entering the cylinder will immediately score the liner and seize the engine. Always ensure the cylinder is properly prepared (honed).
Piston rings seal the combustion chamber, preventing exhaust gases from entering the crankcase and oil from entering the combustion chamber. They also transfer heat from the piston. Their wear is a natural process but leads to serious engine problems.

STD stands for "Standard," or the nominal, factory size. It means this ring set fits a cylinder with an original diameter of 100.00 mm (or after honing that hasn't significantly increased the bore). If the cylinder was already worn and "bored out," it would require oversize rings (e.g., +0.50 mm).
2. Can I replace the rings on just one piston? This is highly discouraged. Replacing rings on only one cylinder leads to uneven compression (the new cylinder will have much higher compression than the others). This causes unbalanced operation, puts stress on the crankshaft and bearings, and is considered bad practice. Such repairs should always be done for all cylinders.
3. What is the difference between AA, AB, and AK engine rings?Although all these engines may have a 100mm bore, they often differ in the height and profile of the piston grooves. Rings for turbo engines (like AK and AB) are often designed differently (e.g., the top compression ring) than those for a naturally aspirated engine (AA) to withstand higher pressure and temperature. You must always match the rings to the specific piston and engine model.
