A key element for an engine overhaul – a high-quality piston ring set by NEXGEN. It is designed for one piston with a nominal cylinder bore (STD) of 100.00 mm. This set features specific ring dimensions of 2.5mm x 2.5mm x 4mm. It's primarily dedicated to the Perkins AA (1004-4) naturally aspirated engine, but also fits many other Perkins, CAT, and Massey Ferguson engines. The rings are responsible for hermetically sealing the combustion chamber, transferring heat from the piston to the cylinder, and controlling the oil film.
In the construction industry, machine reliability is the key to success. That's why we offer high-quality replacement parts for construction machinery that meet the highest standards of durability and performance. Our products are the ideal solution for companies and specialists looking for reliable components at attractive prices.

The list above is extensive. The key is to verify the engine type (e.g., Perkins AA) and the nominal cylinder bore (100.00 mm).
An engine overhaul requires absolute cleanliness. Installing rings must be done in sterile conditions. Any contamination (dirt, debris) entering the cylinder will immediately score the liner and seize the engine. Always ensure the cylinder is properly prepared (honed).
Piston rings seal the combustion chamber, preventing exhaust gases from entering the crankcase and oil from entering the combustion chamber. They also transfer heat from the piston. Their wear is a natural process but leads to serious engine problems.

These are the heights (thicknesses) of the individual rings in the set, starting from the top of the piston. It means the first compression ring is 2.5 mm high, the second (scraper) ring is 2.5 mm, and the third (oil control) ring is 4 mm high.
2. Can I replace the rings on just one piston? This is highly discouraged. Replacing rings on only one cylinder leads to uneven compression (the new cylinder will have much higher compression than the others). This causes unbalanced operation, puts stress on the crankshaft and bearings, and is considered bad practice. Such repairs should always be done for all cylinders.
3. Why must I hone the cylinder when replacing rings?Old rings wear the cylinder wall in a specific way. The surface becomes too smooth ("glazed"), and new rings will not be able to "break in" or seal properly. Honing gives the cylinder wall a specific cross-hatch pattern that holds an oil film and allows the new rings to seat perfectly.
