A high-quality slide bush, made of hardened steel. It is a key component of the backhoe arm joints, fitted in the end of the dipper arm and in the bucket linkage ("dog bone"). Its function is to provide smooth rotational movement for the pin and to bear the enormous forces generated during digging, minimizing friction and protecting more expensive components (the ram eye, the arm) from wear.
A CORESPEX brand product – premium quality replacements that guarantee long life and reliability, even when working in heavy-duty conditions.
Have a worn bore?
We also stock this bush in two oversize repair sizes:
• SKX654681CX2 - Outer Diameter: 55.5 mm
• SKX654681CX3 - Outer Diameter: 60.0 mm
| Brand (Machine Type) | Model |
|---|---|
| JCB (Backhoe Loaders) | 2DX, 3CX, 4CX |
| JCB (Mini Excavators) | 8040, 8045, 8050, 8052, 8055, 8056, 8060, 8065, 8080 |

Replacing backhoe arm bushings requires the arm to be immobilized and secured. Always use the service lock and certified axle stands. Never rely solely on the machine's hydraulics. Use safety glasses and gloves.
For a comprehensive and durable repair, always replace bushings in a set with new pins and seals. Regular greasing of the joints with high-quality HYPTRON grease containing molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) drastically extends the life of the bushings.
Bushings are sacrificial components designed to wear out to protect much more expensive parts like the arm or cylinders. Ignoring worn bushings leads to play, which in turn damages the pin bores (causing them to become oval), ultimately requiring a very expensive re-boring repair.
Replace the bushings if you notice:
Ignoring play on the pins leads to irreversible damage to the bores in the ram and arm, forcing costly re-boring repairs.
A repair performed using a complete set of CORESPEX pins and bushings is the cheapest way to avoid these problems. Secure your machine and restore its factory precision – order a complete set today.
Not necessarily. If the wear is not extreme, you can drill the bore out to one of the two oversize dimensions and fit a dedicated repair bush (SKX654681CX2 or SKX654681CX3). This is a much faster and cheaper solution than calling out a mobile line boring service.
2. What is the difference between a steel and a bronze/brass bush?Hardened steel bushings are used in joints where there is very high surface pressure and maximum resistance to deformation is required. Bronze bushings have better sliding properties and are more resistant to seizure in case of a temporary lack of lubrication. The choice of material depends on the specifics of the given joint.
3. I have play on the pin, but the old bush looks okay. Do I have to replace it?Yes. Even if the bush is not cracked, the play indicates that its internal diameter has worn. Installing a new, tight pin in an old, worn bush will not eliminate the play and will lead to rapid wear of the pin. Both components should always be replaced at the same time.
