The cabin filter is the "lungs" of your cab. Its job is to clean the air entering the interior of dust, pollen, soot, and other pollutants. If the airflow in the cab is very weak, a musty, unpleasant odor comes from the vents, or the windows fog up easily and are difficult to clear, these are classic symptoms of a clogged filter. A dirty filter not only reduces comfort but, most importantly, exposes the operator's health to harmful dust and allergens, and also puts a strain on the blower motor.
The cabin filter should be replaced every 250-500 operating hours or at least once a year, preferably before the pollen or winter season, to ensure maximum performance.
Before installing a new filter, vacuum and clean the inside of its housing of leaves, dust, and dirt. This will ensure proper airflow and longer filter life.
The filter housing often has an arrow indicating the airflow direction. Make sure you install it according to the marking.
After installation, ensure the filter housing cover is properly closed and sealed to avoid sucking in "false", unfiltered air.
Answer: Yes, this is the main symptom of a clogged cabin filter. Contaminants block the airflow, which drastically reduces the blower's performance.
Question: Can I clean and reuse my old filter?Answer: It is highly not recommended. Blowing it out with compressed air damages the delicate fiber structure and creates microscopic holes that allow contaminants into the cab. Cabin filters are disposable.
Question: What happens if I operate without a cabin filter?Answer: All the dust and dirt from outside will enter the cabin directly, as well as onto the A/C evaporator and heater core, causing them to clog and leading to a costly cleaning job. Most importantly, you are endangering your health.
