A retaining ring (circlip) is a key safety component of any pin joint. Its job is to lock the pin in the bushes and prevent it from sliding out sideways. If you notice excessive side-to-side play on the arm or bucket, or worse, the pin has started to "walk out" of its mounting, it's a sign that the ring has broken or been lost. Ignoring this problem will lead to the pin falling out completely, which can cause the bucket or arm to detach and lead to a very dangerous accident.

The accuracy and quality of materials guarantee long and trouble-free use without the need for frequent replacement.
The ring is fully adapted to work with original pins, ensuring a consistent and safe repair.
The GX-AFTER brand is a proven and safe alternative that offers quality comparable to original parts at a much better price.
Circlips are single-use parts. They deform during removal and lose their spring tension. Reusing them risks them falling out.
Only use dedicated circlip pliers for installation and removal. Using screwdrivers will overstretch or damage the ring.
After installation, ensure the ring is fully and evenly seated in the groove all the way around the pin.
Before installing a new ring, thoroughly clean the groove in the pin of dirt, rust, and old grease.
Answer: Yes, this is a classic symptom. A missing ring allows the pin to slide sideways, creating significant axial play. You should stop work immediately and secure the pin.
Question: Why can't I reuse my old circlip if it isn't broken?Answer: Circlips are made of spring steel. They are stretched during removal and permanently lose their spring tension. Reinstalling such a ring does not guarantee a secure fit and risks it falling out.
Question: What is the main cause of circlip failure?Answer: The most common causes are material fatigue after many work cycles, damage during improper installation or removal (without special pliers), or a strong side impact to the pin joint.
