A critical safety fluid – genuine JCB HP15 hydraulic oil, designed for specialized brake systems in JCB machines. This is a mineral-based (LHM type) fluid that is not compatible and must not be mixed with standard, glycol-based brake fluids (e.g., DOT4). Its unique formula protects specific seals (rubber and metal), prevents corrosion, and guarantees consistent braking force over a wide temperature range.
Genuine JCB product – a guarantee of the highest quality, perfect fit, and 100% compatibility with your machine.
| Brand | Type / Series / Model |
|---|---|
| JCB | Backhoe Loaders: 3CX, 4CX (older models) Telehandlers (Loadall) All other JCB machines whose operator's manual explicitly requires HP15 (LHM) fluid. |
The list above is for reference. Always check your machine's operator manual. Never use this fluid in systems designed for DOT4 fluid, and vice versa.
Brake fluid is critical for safety. Using the wrong fluid (e.g., DOT4 instead of HP15) or contaminating it with DOT4 fluid will cause all seals in the system (master cylinder, wheel cylinders) to swell and disintegrate, resulting in **total brake failure**.
Brake fluid transfers the force from the brake pedal to the calipers or wheel cylinders. It also lubricates and protects internal components from corrosion. Worn or contaminated fluid leads to failure and loss of braking efficiency.

HP15 is a mineral-based fluid (LHM - Liquide Hydraulique Minéral). DOT3/DOT4 fluids are glycol-based. Glycol fluids are hygroscopic (absorb water), while mineral fluids are not. Most importantly, the rubber seals in the brake system are made of materials compatible with only one type of fluid. Filling an LHM system with DOT4 (or vice versa) will cause the seals to swell and dissolve, leading to brake failure.
2. How often should I replace HP15 brake fluid?Because mineral fluid is not hygroscopic (it doesn't absorb water) like DOT4, its replacement intervals are much longer. However, it should still be replaced according to the machine manufacturer's recommendations (usually every 2000-4000 hours) as it degrades mechanically and collects contaminants from wearing components.
3. How do I know which fluid my machine uses?Always check the operator's manual. Additionally, the brake fluid reservoir cap should be clearly marked "USE ONLY JCB HP15" or "MINERAL OIL ONLY". If the machine requires DOT4 fluid, it will have a corresponding "DOT4 FLUID ONLY" marking. Never guess - a mistake will destroy the brake system.
