The expansion tank is a key component of the cooling system. Its job is to compensate for the changing volume of coolant as it heats up and cools down, maintain the correct pressure in the system, and allow for easy level checks. If your tank is cracked, cloudy, or so yellowed that you can't see the fluid level, or you are constantly losing coolant, these are classic signs of wear. A leaking tank causes a loss of pressure, which leads to engine overheating and risks blowing the head gasket.

The tank is fully adapted to work with original hoses and mountings, ensuring a consistent repair.
A functional cooling system is the cheapest insurance for your engine. A new tank with a cap restores its full efficiency.
Before starting the replacement, ensure the engine is completely cold to avoid burns from hot coolant.
Replacing the tank is a perfect opportunity to flush the system and refill it with new, clean coolant, such as HYPTRON. This will ensure optimal protection against corrosion and freezing.
While replacing, inspect the condition of the rubber hoses connected to the tank. If they are hard or perished, replace them along with the hose clamps.
After refilling with new fluid, run the engine and wait for the thermostat to open to properly bleed the entire system and top up any fluid shortages.
Answer: Yes, if it is leaking and the system is losing pressure or coolant. Other causes include a faulty thermostat, a malfunctioning water pump, a slipping belt, or a clogged radiator.
Question: Why has my old tank turned yellow and brittle?Answer: This is a natural aging process of the plastic due to exposure to high temperatures and UV rays. Such a tank can crack at any time and should be replaced preventively.
Question: Can I just glue a cracked tank?Answer: This is highly not recommended. Adhesives are not resistant to the cyclic pressure and temperature changes in the cooling system. Such a repair is not durable and risks a sudden loss of all coolant.
