The drive solenoid is a key control component of the gearbox. It is responsible for directing oil pressure to the appropriate clutch packs to engage forward or reverse drive. If your machine does not drive in one or both directions, engages with a significant delay, jerks when shifting, or blows the transmission fuse when changing direction, these are classic symptoms of a faulty solenoid. A malfunctioning solenoid prevents smooth and safe operation and, in extreme cases, completely immobilizes the machine.

A new solenoid restores the machine's factory performance, eliminating problems with lack of drive and jerking.
A properly functioning solenoid ensures smooth clutch engagement, protecting the friction plates from burning and the entire gearbox from damage.
Using original parts is the best way to avoid unforeseen breakdowns and costly downtime.
Before starting any work on the electrical system, for your own safety, always disconnect the negative (-) terminal from the battery.
Before replacing the coil, check the fuse, relay, in-cab switch, and the wiring and connector. Sometimes the cause of the failure lies in the electrics, not the solenoid itself.
Before removing the old solenoid, thoroughly clean the area around it on the gearbox block. Even the smallest contaminant that gets inside can jam the new valve.
Oil contaminants are the number one enemy of solenoids. It is a good practice to service the transmission with new HYPTRON oil and a REDX filter when replacing the solenoid.
Answer: It is a primary suspect. You should also check the direction shuttle lever, fuses, relays, and the oil pressure in the gearbox.
Question: Why do I lose drive only when the machine is hot?Answer: This is a classic symptom of a failing solenoid coil. As the temperature rises, the resistance of its winding increases, causing it to lose the strength needed to keep the valve open.
Question: Where is this solenoid located?Answer: The solenoid is screwed into the valve block on the transmission. It is usually easily accessible from the side or top of the gearbox.
