The V-belt is a key component of the engine's accessory drive. It is responsible for transferring power from the crankshaft to the alternator, ensuring the battery is charged. If you hear persistent squealing from the engine area, the charging warning light is flickering or on, or the belt is visibly cracked or frayed, these are classic signs of wear. A snapped belt leads to an immediate loss of charging and, depending on the design, often a loss of cooling, which risks overheating and serious engine damage.

The accuracy and quality of materials guarantee long and trouble-free use without the need for frequent replacement.
The belt is fully adapted to work with original pulleys and tensioners, ensuring a consistent repair.
The VICORTEX brand is a proven and safe alternative that offers quality comparable to original parts at a much better price.
If two belts run on one pulley, they should always be replaced as a matched set. This ensures even load distribution.
Before installing a new belt, check the condition of the pulley grooves (for wear or corrosion) and the condition of the tensioner bearing.
After installation, set the correct belt tension. Too loose and it will slip and squeal; too tight and it will destroy the pump and alternator bearings.
During installation, be careful not to get oil or grease on the belt, which could cause it to slip.
Answer: In most cases, yes. Squealing indicates slippage caused by a worn, stretched belt or incorrect tension. You should also check the condition of the pulleys.
Question: How often should I replace the V-belt?Answer: It is recommended to replace the belt preventively every 2000 operating hours or every 2 years. It should also be replaced immediately upon noticing any cracks or fraying.
Question: What happens if the belt breaks during operation?Answer: A broken alternator belt will cause an immediate loss of battery charging. If the same belt also drives the water pump (which is common), it will lead to a rapid temperature increase and risk of engine overheating.
