A seal kit is the key element for rebuilding an orbital unit - the heart of the steering system. It is responsible for maintaining internal seals, which allows for precise metering of oil to the steering ram. If your steering wheel turns freely without wheel response, steering is jerky or uneven, or you see oil leaking from the steering column, these are classic symptoms of worn seals. A leaking orbital is not just a loss of precision, but a huge safety hazard – it risks a sudden loss of control over the machine.

Complete Repair Kit
Everything you need for a rebuild
The accuracy and quality of materials guarantee long and trouble-free use without the need for frequent replacement.
The kit is fully adapted to work with original JCB orbital units, ensuring a consistent and reliable repair.
The NEXGEN brand is a proven and safe alternative that offers quality comparable to original parts at a much better price.
Rebuilding an orbital unit requires sterile conditions. Even the smallest contaminant can damage newly installed seals or score the precision internal components.
Before installing new seals, carefully inspect the condition of the gerotor and distributor spool. If they are scored or worn, replacing the seals alone will not restore full functionality.
After any intervention in the hydraulic system, you must replace the filter (we recommend the REDX brand) and refill the system with fresh, clean oil (e.g., HYPTRON).
Before installation, lubricate all seals with clean hydraulic oil. This will ease assembly and prevent them from being damaged "dry".
Answer: Yes, this is a classic symptom of an internal leak in the orbital unit caused by worn seals. Replacing the kit should restore smooth steering operation.
Question: Can I just replace the one leaking shaft seal?Answer: It is highly not recommended. An external leak is a sign that the entire set of seals is worn out. Replacing only one component is uneconomical, as another will soon fail, and the cost of disassembling the unit again is high.
Question: Can I rebuild the orbital unit myself?Answer: Rebuilding an orbital requires extreme precision, sterile cleanliness, and specialized tools. Incorrect assembly can lead to immediate damage. We recommend entrusting this repair to a qualified mechanic.
