An essential component of the drive system – a torque converter, designed for JCB machines with Powershift transmissions. It is a key component that transfers torque from the engine to the transmission via hydraulic fluid, enabling smooth starts and gear changes under load. A faulty converter leads to loss of drive, oil overheating, and can damage the transmission oil pump.
GX-AFTER is the smart choice for your machine. We provide high-class replacement parts that combine excellent quality with an attractive price. Each part is carefully verified to ensure full compatibility and reliability you can depend on.
| Brand | Type / Series / Model |
|---|---|
| JCB | Backhoe Loaders: 3C, 3CX, 3CX SITEMASTER, 3CX-2, 3CX-4, 3CXC, 3CXS, 3CXT, 4CX, 4CXC Telehandlers: Various models |
The list above is for reference. Before purchasing, we recommend checking the part number or color code on your old converter.
The torque converter is a key component of the Powershift transmission. Its failure leads to serious drive problems, and filings from a damaged converter can destroy the entire gearbox.
A failed converter is a direct path to a destroyed gearbox.
Filings from a damaged torque converter act like sandpaper on the precision components of the gearbox. The cost of replacing the converter is negligible compared to a general overhaul of the transmission. Don't take risks – order a new, reliable torque converter and protect your investment.

The dots on the converter are a color code used for quick identification of the converter's key parameter: its stall ratio. It's a visual shortcut for mechanics. Common combinations (JCB 3CX/4CX and related) are:
- 2x Purple + 1x White: Ratio 2.20:1 (e.g., 04/500100)
- 2x Orange + 1x Green: Ratio 2.44:1 (e.g., 04/500800)
- Orange + Yellow + Orange: Ratio 2.52:1 (e.g., 04/600650)
- Purple + Yellow + Purple: Ratio 2.82:1 (e.g., 04/501400)
This color code should be distinguished from single balance markings (e.g., drill marks), which ensure vibration-free operation.
Imagine it as the "first gear" in a car – it determines how much power the machine has "off the line." Technically, the stall ratio is the maximum torque multiplication the converter can achieve when the engine is revving, but the machine is stationary. A higher ratio means more pushing power when starting. Installing a converter with the wrong ratio will make the machine feel "weak" or inefficient. That's why correct identification is so important.
3. The machine has no power to drive. Is it definitely the converter's fault?Loss of drive, especially when hot, very often indicates a damaged torque converter (e.g., worn blades or internal seals). Other causes include low performance of the transmission pump, leaks in the clutch packs, or a clogged transmission oil filter.
