A key component of the cooling system – a water temperature sensor, designed for a wide range of JCB, Hitachi, Kobelco and other machines equipped with ISUZU engines (e.g. 4BG1, 6BG1). It is a precision sub-assembly, responsible for continuously monitoring the coolant temperature and relaying this information to the engine control unit and cab gauges. A correct reading is essential for controlling the fan operation and preventing overheating, which is the first line of defense against engine seizure.
By choosing GX-OEM parts, you are choosing the uncompromising quality of the original assembly. Our products are made with the highest precision, guaranteeing a perfect fit and parameters identical to the original. This is the best investment in the long and trouble-free operation of your machine.
| Brand | Type / Series / Model |
|---|---|
| JCB | Tracked and Wheeled Excavators: JS110, JS115, JS130, JS130LC, JS130W, JZ140, JS145, JS145W, JS160, JS160W, JS175W, JS180, JS190, JS200, JS200W, JS210, JS210LC, JS220, JS235, JS240, JS260, JS290, JS330, JS360, JS370, JS450LC, JS460 |
| Hitachi | Excavators: EX120-3, EX120-5, EX200-3, EX200-5, ZAXIS 200 |
| Kobelco | Excavators: SK220 |
| Sany | Excavators: 135 |
| Sumitomo | Various models with Isuzu engines |
The list above is for reference. It is key to match the sensor to your engine model.
The temperature sensor is the most important guardian of your engine's life. Its failure can lead to a lack of warning about overheating, resulting in engine seizure, or to false alarms that unnecessarily interrupt work.
A faulty sensor is a ticking time bomb under your machine's hood.
Ignoring incorrect temperature readings can lead to overheating and engine seizure, which means an overhaul costing thousands. Don't work "blind" – order a new, precise OEM-quality sensor and be confident you know your engine's condition.

A temperature sensor (like this one) provides a continuous, variable signal to the ECU and the in-cab gauge. A thermal switch is a simple switch that closes a circuit (e.g., turning on the fan) only when a specific, set temperature is reached. In modern machines, the computer decides when to turn on the fan based on the reading from the sensor.
2. The temperature gauge suddenly dropped to zero during operation. Is the sensor faulty? Most likely, yes. A sudden drop to zero usually indicates a break in the electrical circuit – this could be a failure of the sensor itself, but also a disconnected plug or a frayed wire. This should be checked immediately, as the engine continues to heat up without the operator being aware of it.
3. Where exactly is this sensor located? In Isuzu engines, it is most often screwed into the thermostat housing, which is located at the top of the engine where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine block.
