Case brand is mainly associated with farming and construction equipment - such as excavators, backhoe loaders, min-excavators, loaders and bulldozers, as well as tractors and other machinery that's commonly utilized in farming and construction industries.

The genesis of the Case brand name reaches as far back as 1869, when the first steam engine powered tractor was built under the direction of Jerome Increase Case, the founder of Recine Threshing Machine Works company, based in Recine, Wisconsin. Another major success of the brand was the development of the first mobile locomotive power unit, as well as the first tractor powered by the internal combustion - type engine - a power source that, initially, met with cold reception from the company customers. Consequently, it had to wait for 19 years until such product was fully introduced into the marketplace.

 

In 1902, the Case brand created International Harvester joint venture, consisting of four different companies, and designed a tractor named Titan, that had huge dimensions and became the traditional, company flagship product.  Other company products, that followed, were:

- first power take-off (PTO) shaft - 1919,
- first lightweight tractor - 1923,
- second generation of Farmall tractors - 1939,
- first cotton harvester - 1943,
- first backhoe loader model, Case 320 - 1957,
- first high-powered tractor - 1958,
- first mini-loader -  1969,
- first combine harvester - 1977,
- first articulated tractor, equipped with four wheel drive and operator seat - 1980.

 

The following machines, that Case brand developed, were manufactured with increased crop collection productivity, effectiveness, as well as higher second hand marked resale value in mind. Their maintenance work became much easier to manage and they increased the quality and the ergonomics of work for its operators.

In 1985, the company brand name was changed to Case IH. The company expanded its product offer and became the second largest manufacturer of farming and construction machinery in the world. One of more recent, very important events for the company brand, and for the construction machinery industry, was celebration of manufacturing the 500,000th Case - branded backhoe loader in 2005. Thanks to all activities mentioned above, the founder of Case brand - Jerome Increase Case - was awarded by The Association of Equipment organization in 2008 for his contributions to the construction machinery industry, and was proclaimed as "the father of the backhoe loader". This year, Case brand is celebrating 180 years of its existence on the marketplace.
