A reliable handbrake sensor 701/72500 by GX-AFTER. This is a key safety system component in a wide range of JCB machines, from 3CX/4CX backhoe loaders to telehandlers and wheel loaders. This sensor detects the position of the parking brake lever and sends a signal to the dashboard, activating the warning light (red brake icon). In many machines, it also acts as a drive interlock.

The list above is for reference. It is crucial to verify the part number 701/72500 on your old sensor.
When replacing the sensor, we recommend checking the handbrake cable, the lever mechanism, and the dashboard warning light.
A faulty handbrake sensor is extremely dangerous. If it fails to warn the operator that the brake is applied, attempting to drive can burn out the brake linings and overheat the axle. If the sensor fails and the machine is left without the brake applied (and no warning), it can roll away, leading to a tragedy.
The 701/72500 sensor is a limit switch mounted near the parking brake lever mechanism. When the lever is pulled, it presses the sensor, which closes an electrical circuit. This illuminates the red brake warning light on the dashboard. In many machines, this signal is also used by the control module to lock the shuttle (reverser), preventing the machine from driving with the handbrake engaged.

Its main role is to turn on the red parking brake warning light on the dashboard when the handbrake lever is engaged.
Very likely. Many JCB machines have a drive interlock that prevents driving with the handbrake on. If the 701/72500 sensor is stuck in the "on" position, the machine thinks the brake is engaged and locks the reverser, even if the lever is off.
These are interchangeable (alternative) numbers for the same part. 701/42000 and 704/70400 are older part numbers that have been superseded by 701/72500. All are fully compatible.
